US History 10B Week 1
I thought the analogy between Student Council and labor unions was clever and interesting, but offensive. A lot of my friends are in student council and they’d feel like crap if they heard someone calling them “useless,” “dumb,” or “pointless.” To be honest, there’s not a lot that stuent council CAN do, almost everything is up to the school board so maybe we should be comparing labor unions to them.
I also thought it was offensive that Mr. Benolkin made fun of a sutdent’s haircut. I understand that it was a bit abnormal, but it wasn’t crazy or distracting, and it was very demeaning of him to openly mock the student in front of the entire class.
I might have to start bringing earplugs to class. I sit in the front row so maybe I’m just too close to Mr. Benolkin when he’s talking, but I always seem to leave class with righing ears and a headache. It might be different for other students, or people in the back, but I don’t have the slightest trouble hearing what he has to say.
