US History 10B Week 11

The video interviewing Robert McNamara was really interesting. It’s nice to know that even strong leaders can look back and find mistakes and regrets and learn from them. But poor Kennedy; he wins the election for his looks, the Dixiecrats don’t let him pass any bills, and then he’s shot! That sounds like an awful last few years to live.

I think it’s funny how Kennedy chose Johnson even though they are completely different. Kennedy seems very kind, gentle, and happy while Johnson seems forceful, angry, and diligent. Although Johnson is a bit of a bully I like how he fought so hard to end poverty. It was nice to see that he had a soft side, especially when he had to give up poverty for war.

The Vietmanese war makes me mad though. Why didn’t Johnson or Kennedy or even McNamara just stop the war? If they knew it was pointless and had no end, why did they continue to send troops? It just seems like a really dumb thing to do.

I like our new seats a lot. I’m finally around new people and not in the very front! I feel like our class is finally getting to know each other better now. I definately leearn better when I’m near people I know.
